Thank you for all your help, support and hard work in recovering our deposit for us.
We had put a deposit down on our dream apartment in Granada, but eventually it became clear that building was not going to plan, was running severely behind schedule and was in danger of not being completed at all; and the promises made by the developer and agent (such as facilities, guaranteed rental scheme, mortgage deals) were never going to materialise.
Our retained lawyers had been recommended by the agent. They were very unhelpful and did not want to help us recover our monies, even though luckily we had a Bank Guarantee. We took further advice from one or two other Spanish lawyers, who also felt we would not win our case.
Talking to Maria immediately put my mind at ease as she was completely confident that not only did we have a case, but that she could win it for us. We immediately disinstructed our previous lawyers and gave power of attorney for Maria's team to act on our behalf. Everything was handled with the utmost professionalism, they even applied for our NIE numbers for us. We didn't even need to visit the office, we were kept up to date with progress regularly by phone and email. I'd like to give special thanks to Steven, who kept me calm at all times, even when I was verging on hysteria!!
We eventually received our deposit back, the Bank threatened a long drawn-out battle through the courts, or a quick settlement if we forfeited our interest and costs. We chose the latter and Maria's team negotiated a swift payment.
